Production Operator

(Openings on Day, Graveyard & Weekend Day & Night Shifts)

$20.00 per hour base starting pay 


Weekday Day Shift (M-F 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, five 8 hour shifts) Weeknight Graveyard (M-TH 9:30 PM to 8:00 AM, four 10 hour overnight shifts) Weekend Day (Friday-Sunday 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM, three 12 ½ hour shifts) Weekend Graveyard (Friday-Sunday 6:00 PM to 7:00 AM, three 12 ½ hour shifts)

Production Operators are needed to support growing production in our North Portland (Rivergate) facility.   Operator Duties include (but are not limited to) the following: Cleaning and conditioning containers for chemical storage, Mixing and dispensing chemicals, Packaging finished product for shipment, Operating a variety of material handling equipment that includes pallet jacks and overhead cranes, Wearing personal protective equipment as required and working in clean room environments as necessary, Regularly lifting and/or moving materials weighing up to approximately 50 pounds, Carrying out detailed instructions presented in oral or written form, Performing basic mathematical calculations and occasionally using a computer for a variety of tasks.   


Qualifications: Must have good dexterity, a full range of motion and the ability to regularly lift and/or move materials weighing up to approximately 50 pounds, occasionally up to 70 pounds. Must be able to understand and carry out detailed instructions presented in oral or written form and speak and understand English at a basic level, as well as demonstrating basic math and writing skills. Attention to detail, the ability to wear proper PPE, and to perform all work safely and consistently are required. Some production and/or warehouse experience is strongly preferred but not required; Experience with hazardous materials is preferred, although not required. Familiarity with hazmat labeling and the segregation of chemicals by hazard class within a warehouse environment are a plus. Occasional overtime may be required. Must pass a pre-employment physical, pre-employment drug screen, post-offer/pre-employment criminal background and reference check.   


Pay starts at $20.00 an hour. Shift differential pay is available on the following shifts: Weekday Swing and Weekend Day shifts ($1/hour differential) Weekday Graveyard/Overnight and Weekend Graveyard/Overnight shifts ($2/hour differential).   


Candidates progress through three levels of training: Operator I (approximately 4-6 months from 1st day), Production Operator II (an additional 4-6 months), and finally to Operator III (an additional 4-6 months). Pay increases at completion of each level (level I, II, and III) with culmination at the 3rd level which is usually achieved within 12 to 18 months from a candidate’s date of hire.

Material Handlers

Material Handlers are needed to support growing production in our North Portland (Rivergate) facility. 


The Material Handler plays an important operational role in filling requisitions, work orders, or requests for  materials, tools and other stock items and distributing the items to production workers and also assembling  customer orders from stock and placing orders on pallets or shelves and then conveying orders to packing  stations or the shipping department. The individual in this role works closely with other warehouse and  production team members. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS 


  • Safely operate forklifts, fill requisitions, work orders or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items  and distribute items to production workers 
  • Assemble customer orders from stock and place orders on pallets or shelves 
  • Conveys orders to packing stations or the shipping department 
  • Mark materials with identifying information 
  • Record amounts of materials or items received or distributed  
  • Weigh or count items for distribution within the plant to ensure conformance to company standards 
  • Arrange stock parts in specified sequence for assembly by other plant workers 


QUALIFICATIONS 

MINIMUM: 


  • Minimum of one to two years of relevant experience in shipping/receiving, inventory and forklift operation • Basic math and writing skills and familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel. 
  • Ability to multitask safely and effectively in a constantly changing environment.  
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical fitness for duty test that demonstrates good dexterity, a full range of  motion and the ability to regularly lift and/or move materials weighing up to approximately 50 pounds,  occasionally up to 70 pounds, a pre-employment drug screen, post-offer/pre-employment criminal  background check and a professional reference check. 


PREFERRED: 


  • Experience with hazardous materials strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with hazmat labeling and the segregation of chemicals by hazard class within a warehouse  environment are a plus.
  • Experience loading trucks with knowledge of proper trailer weight distribution that meets federal DOT  requirements are also a plus. 
  • Experience with PLEX, or other manufacturing MRP or ERP system is a plus 


Pay starts at $20.00 an hour.  

Shift differential pay is available on the following shifts:  

Weekday Swing shift ($1/hour);  

Weekday Graveyard/Overnight and Weekend Graveyard/Overnight shifts ($2/hour).  


Candidates progress through three levels: Material Handler Trainee, then to Material Handler I (generally  achieved after 6-12 months of training following completion of probationary period), and finally reaching  Material Handler II (generally achieved 6 months after achieving Material Handler I certification. Pay increases  come with achieving Level I and Level II certifications.
